Crazylegs

One had to be "crazy" to run the Crazylegs Classic in Madison, WI this past weekend.  It was cold and rainy with distant flashes of lightening here and there.  I drove up to WI and met up with Charity, Jeff, Sandy, Sarah, Greg, Julie, and Greg's brother Adam.  It was a stressful drive getting there, but all that tension probably just fueled me in the race.  The run itself was very fun and adventurous and I felt great.  I paced myself well and was happy with my time.  After the race we froze while searching for our ride, but Sarah and Julie had hot cocoa for us when we found them.  After cleaning up and thawing out, we went down to Galena to celebrate Jeff's birthday.  We had dinner and cake at their house and then went to the Irish Cottage to hear live music.  I love hanging out with this group!

Jadon Goes to the Dentist

This morning I took Jadon to his first dentist appointment.  He did very well.  He totally cooperated with Joan and Dr. Lyons.  They said his teeth and bite looked very healthy.  I was a proud momma.

Jadon's Birthday with the Joneses

Special occasions in our house become week or weekend long events.  Jadon's birthday has been no different.  On Saturday night, Brian, Vicki, and Keith took Jadon to an indoor football game.  Jadon enjoyed the game, but what made an even bigger impression was riding in Keith's truck.  It goes to show that his first passion is still cars and trucks.  On Sunday evening we went to Larry and Cindy's house for pizza, cake, and presents.  After supper, the kids put on Monster tattoos and ran around acting like silly monsters.  Then Jadon opened lots of nice gifts.  The big entertainment was a gift from Vicki and Keith, a large remote control dinosaur.  When he came out of the bag and started roaring, Jadon and Dylan ran out of the room to hide.  Surprisingly, Leah wasn't scared at all, even though the dinosaur stood as tall as her.  It was a fun night.

Jadon's Monster Party

Jadon and his friends had so much fun at our St. Patrick's Day Party that we decided to have a birthday party with friends this year.  When we asked Jadon what theme he wanted, he said monsters.  This past Saturday we had a Monster Birthday Party for Jadon and 5 of his friends.  We started off by reading a Monster book and making Monster Masks.  After that,  the kids went on a scavenger hunt and found their take home bags at the end.

More of the Monster Party

Jadon has been showing a lot of interest in soccer, so Brian and I gave him a pink soccer ball and a net.  He received a lot of nice games and toys from his friends, too.  After opening gifts, the kids enjoyed cupcakes and ice cream.  I decorated them to look like monsters and each kid got to pick the one he wanted.  That was a big hit.  After their treat we played out in the backyard.  The boys had lots of fun playing in our big sandbox with all the trucks and buckets.  They also played with Jadon's new crouquet set and beanbag toss from my parents.  Jadon and Brecken were playing soccer, too.  Everyone had fun, especially the birthday boy!

The Birthday Festivities Begin

Jadon got to wear a Birthday crown at Preschool today and pass out treats to his friends.  The class sang Happy Birthday and Jadon got to show off his new skill of holding up 3 fingers.

Niabi Zoo

On Wednesday, Amie and I took the kids to the Niabi Zoo.  It was a beautiful day and the zoo is free all week for the opening of the season.  The kids really enjoyed seeing the monkeys because there were two babies in the exhibit.  They enjoyed the Carousel, too.  They were laughing and squealing as they went round and round.  We love having cousins closeby and doing fun things like this all throughout the year.

Easter '09

The kids woke up to find that the Easter bunny had delivered some baskets and hidden eggs around the house.  Jadon got some Matchbox cars in his basket which successfully distracted him from the candy and kept him entertained all day.  We had a special breakfast with Deb and then went to church.  Harvest Time had a great service which included a choir, drama, and a joyful message.  Then we went to Dan and Betty Jones' house for Easter dinner.  I made Bunny cupcakes for the kids.

Easter Cont'd

Larry and Cindy planned a backyard Egg Hunt for the kids.  The kids were thrilled and it was nice getting outside.  We really enjoyed our Easter with the Jones family.

Jadon and Friends

This week there were some special visitors in Jadon's class, three baby chicks.  Jadon has been learning a lot about Spring.

Today he went to his friend Eli's birthday party.  This was the first kids' party he's been to and he had lots of fun.  He played many dinosaur related games, did a craft, and enjoyed special treats.  He was very excited to see Eli open a motorcycle toy and he promptly reminded Eli that he needs to share.  It was funny.
